3D Poker-The Future Of Online Poker?
Mike Wittmeyer
Online poker players have become familiar with the standard 2D overhead view that every site on the internet is using currently. However, the upcoming releases of 3D poker sites may change all of that.
Features
PKR has a chance to revolutionize online poker. Instead of each player being an infernal blinking light situated at a certain part of the table, players will be fully customized to look exactly how each player wants them to look. Certain sites are even allowing players to scan in photos of themselves so they can look just like they do in real life.
When you play you can select between different points of view. The standard one is first person view, where you look out your own player's eyes. There is also overhead view and a roaming camera mode where you can view the table from any angle you choose.
The 3D software allows players to play in any environment they choose. At launch there will be 6 environments to choose from, including a casino, cruise ship, beach, and basement bar. As the PKR site grows more environments
will be implemented.
Tells
3D poker is also going to provide smart players with a whole new wealth of knowledge. Instead of trying to pick up on unreliable tells such as players using the "future action" buttons, you will be able to use actions you observe
at the table to help you outsmart your opponents.
An example of this is if the turn makes 3 of a suit on the board. You're worried that the player in the pot with you may have made a flush, but then you see him check his hole cards. This is a common tell in real life that the player has just 1 card of that suit, so you can bet him out of the pot.
