Howard Lederer, nicknamed "The Professor," grew up in New Hampshire in a family of five. He is the brother of Annie Duke, who is also a professional poker player. She has won more money in the World Series of Poker than any other woman. Howard gives credit to his dad for his ability to play in high stakes poker. If it wasn't for him, Howard wouldn't have the competitive edge that it takes to succeed when you're a professional poker player.

Chess was actually Howard's first love, and it eventually led to his obsession for poker. In the mid 1980's Howard played No-Limit Hold 'em games in New York at the highly regarded Mayfair Club. In 1993 he moved to Las Vegas to concentrate on his poker career.

In 2002, World Poker Tour events became a monthly event and Howard became a regular on the tournament circuit.

Howard says that his favorite games are big buy-in No Limit tournaments.

Howard Lederer has won two World Poker Tour events. He's got World Series Bracelets for winning the $5,000 Omaha 8 Hi-Lo in 2000 and one for dueces to seven draw in 2001.

Some of Howard's accomplishments:

WPT - World Poker Finals (Foxwoods) – Nov. 2002 – 1st - $320K
WPT - 2003 Party Poker Million – March 2003 1st - $289K
2003 Bellagio's Five-Star World Poker Classic – April 2003 – 1st - $221K
