Men Nguyen grew up in Vietnam and fled the county in a boat in 1977. When he arrived to the United States he couldn’t speak a word of English. Men began taking English lessons and he soon landed a machinist job.
He now lives in Bell Gardens, California and his living room is full of trophies and other trappings of his success as a tournament player. Men "The Maser" has won more than 75 major tournaments, 6 World Championship gold bracelets.
Men started playing Poker when he took a trip to Las Vegas with a friend. He lost big time on his first trip but he really liked the game because you play against other people and not the house. He began studying the game and the strategy’s behind it. He came up with his own strategies to beat the game. He didn’t rely on reading books or taking lessons.
Men “The Master” Nguyen got his nickname from one of his students. While teaching his student a certain poker strategy a light bulb went off in his student’s head and he finally got what Men was talking about. The student called Men “Supha” which means young master in Vietnamese.
