Online Poker Review Sun Poker
![]()
Sun Poker is a very standard room that has a great mix of players at the tables. The room neither has a large player volume nor does it have a poor player volume, it reaches around the middle when it comes to player traffic, much like it does in most other aspects. Sun Poker is not a new room, and it does not offer anything particularly special to make you want to sign up for an account with them.
Special features
Sun Poker does not excel when it comes to special features. This lack of special features forces the room to blend in with the many other rooms out there competing for your custom. However, if you are in need of a special feature to pin onto the Sun Poker room, there is a multi-currency option available that allows you to play in different currencies rather than the standard American dollar.
Bonuses & other promotions
Sun Poker offers 3 different options when it comes to choosing a sign-up bonus. There is a $200, $500 and $1000 available to all first time depositing players. The bonuses are cleared by collecting a certain number of MPPs, which can be obtained from play at the cash and tournament tables. The smallest $200 bonus is easiest to clear, as it requires the least amount of MPPs relative to the size of the bonus. The bonuses become harder to clear as the bonus amount increases. As a general rule, if you have a small bankroll you should stick to small bonuses, whilst the big bankrolls should aim for the higher bonuses.
Traffic
The room receives a fair amount of traffic but again, nothing to make it stand out above the rest of the pack. These players are very diverse, and you should be able to find a good mix of experienced and amateur players at the majority of the limits. Sun Poker at one point had a successful advertising campaign that attracted quite a large volume of players, but until the room starts another successful scheme, it will remain in the middle of the pack.
Deposit & withdrawal options
Deposit Options: NETeller, Firepay, Citadel, ECP, Pre-Paid ATM, major credit cards, checks, and money orders.
Withdrawal Options: NETeller, Firepay, Citadel, major credit cards, checks.
Software & graphics
Sun Poker takes the same approach as Paradise Poker when it comes to providing an environment for its players to compete in. The tables are set against a Caribbean style background with some dull but warm colours. The overall design looks a little tacky at times, but it can be quite enjoyable to look at for the first few times you site down at the tables before it just gets pushed to the back of your mind and you no longer notice it. The software runs smoothly and there are no bugs or glitches to report. However, the poker client may take a little longer to download than most other poker clients on the market.
Game variety
As you might expect, Sun Poker offers the standard Texas Holdem, Omaha and Stud variations of the poker game with the different betting structures for each.
Customer support
The Sun Poker customer support team works 24/7 ready to answer any queries and questions you have about the poker room. There is an email and phone option available, but no live-chat. However there is a 24/7 call back function where a support staff member will call you back at earliest convenience if they are all busy.
