The Pros: Phil Helmuth Jr.
Phil Helmuth Jr. was born July 16, 1964 in Madison Wisconsin. He currently lives in Palo Alto, California and is married with two children.
Phil Helmuth Jr. is one of the best poker players in the world right now. In 1989, at the age of 24, he won the main event at The World Series of Poker. It was then that he became the youngest player ever to win the title. Phil has nine World Series of Poker bracelets and is second in all-time World Series of Poker Winnings with $3.6 million.
Phil learned how to play poker while attending college at the University of Wisconsin. He decided to drop out of school and become a professional poker player. This really upset his dad who was a professor at the school. But his dad quickly forgave Phil after his astounding World Series of Poker win in 1989.
Phil is the author of a couple of poker books, "Play Poker like the Pros", and "Bad Beats, and Lucky Draws". Phil's life story has recently been optioned for a feature film and he is currently working on his autobiography. Phil also writes articles for Card Player Magazine.
