Allen Cunningham was born in 1977 in California. At a relatively young age for a poker professional he has already boasts over $8 Million in tournament career earnings and an impressive record at the World Series Of Poker.

First playing poker at Indian reservation casinos at the age of 18, Cunningham dropped out of UCLA – favoring a poker career over the engineering which he was studying at the time. Allen claims to have never regretted dropping out of college – though his analytical and controlled style at the tables still belies his engineering background still.

Allen Cunningham’s first successes as a poker professional came at the Bicycle Casino, California in 1999. After 4 final tables in that year’s championship – including No-Limit Holdem and 7 Card-Stud Hi-Lo victories – Allen was named best all-round player, getting his first taste of the media spotlight.

It is in the World Series Of Poker that Allen Cunningham has really left his mark. He has won WSOP bracelets over several consecutive years. Starting in 2000 with the 7-Card Stud title Allen has since added the No-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw (2002), $1.5K No-Limit Holdem (2005), $1k No-Limit Holdem (2006) and $5k Pot-Limit Holdem (2006).

It was in the main event of 2006 that Allen Cunningham took his biggest World Series cash. His 4th placed finish in the $10k buy-in main event winning him a cool $3.6 million.

With successes comparable to peers such as Phil Ivey and Daniel Neganeau it is often asked why Allen Cunningham is not better known. The answer lies in a quiet and unassuming personality, Allen is recorded as turning down media sponsorships – preferring to focus on his poker.

In addition to his World Series successes Allen Cunningham has seen many final tables in WPT and other large events. He is also a high-stakes cash game player, enjoying not only No-Limit Holdem but pot-Limit Omaha and mixed games too.
