Chris Ferguson was born on November 4, 1963 in Los Angeles California. His father teaches game theory and statistics at UCLA. Chris says that he has learned a great deal from his dad, but not all about poker. Chris says, "In fact, my father knows enough to know that he doesn’t want to be a gambler.”
Chris has a Ph.D. in Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence from UCLA. Amazingly enough, Chris was kicked out of UCLA when he was 36 because "he had been there long enough." After five years as an Undergrad, and another 13 years as a Ph.D. candidate getting a doctorate in Computer Science, he was told it was time to leave the nest of academia. He went reluctantly and started playing poker full time.
Chris Ferguson got the nickname "Jesus" because of his unique look of long hair and a beard, sunglasses, and a cowboy hat. Chris is married and he lives in Pacific Palisades, California. Some of his hobbies include ballroom dancing and country swing dancing.
Chris Ferguson won the World Series of Poker Championship event in 2000 by beating T.J. Cloutier. He also won the 7 Card Stud Event that same year. He has won a total of five WSOP bracelets.
His most significant accomplishments were his five victories in four years in events at the World Championship. He consistently plays at the top level of the World Poker Tour, and has won more than $3 million in his career.
