The Pros: Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen has been a competitor for many years. Before he played poker, he was a ranked backgammon player. He started playing poker in Santa Cruz, California and is originally from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Known as "Gattling Gun" or "The Great Dane" in poker circles, Gus divides his time between continents, living in both Monte Carlo and Las Vegas.
Gus Hansen's poker play is unconventional compared to other players. He didn't learn how to play poker by reading books; he came up with his own style through trial and error. Gus Hanson's post flop play is so good that he can play a lot of hands that other poker players are unwilling to play.
Gus Hansen may just be the best young player in poker today. In the inaugural season of the World Poker Tour, he won both the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio and the LA Poker Classic at the Commerce Casino. In season two he won the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure, and placed 3rd at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio.
In 2004 he was one of the first three inductees into the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame, with Doyle Brunson, and actor James Garner.
