The Pros: Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Scotty came to the United States when he was 14 years old. Scotty, like fellow pro Men “The Master” Nguyen, escaped by boat from Vietnam. But those days are far behind, and he says he is grateful for the opportunities he has had in America.
Scotty Nguyen is one of the most active players in poker today. From 2000 to 2004 he finished in the money in more than 100 events. Scotty won the 1998 World Series of Poker main event, and has 4 WSOP bracelets.
Scotty Nguyen is famous for saying "baby" and "yeah baby." On the final hand of the 1998 WSOP main event with a full house on the board, Scotty told his opponent Kevin McBride "You call this one and it's all over, baby." Well McBride called and it was all over because Scotty held a higher full house.
